Southwestern Health Resources Clinically Integrated Network (SWHR CIN), is hiring for a Sr. Director Value Based Pharmacy.


This position will Lead and directs the provision of medication management services and provides executive leadership for SWHR Pharmacy Services.  Responsible for the overall strategy, planning, development, implementation, supervision and administrative leadership for SWHR Pharmacy Services.  Serves as part of the executive leadership team and is responsible for the provision of pharmacy services across SWHR and accountable for associated financial and quality outcomes.  Responsible for leading a team to provide consultation, insights and recommendations based on objective, detailed research and analysis along with the compilation of strategic and tactical plans for strategic growth opportunities throughout the health system.  Also responsible for the identification and leading of new services and innovative ways of analyzing development opportunities and assuring the provision of a broad range approach to problem solving through objective analysis.  Collaborates with physician, executive, and service line leaders in the identification and development of new and/or expanded programs and services.  Ensures the development, execution, management and operational hand-off of project timelines; ensure appropriate compilation of internal and external assessments plus the development of strategic business plans in conjunction with service line or project sponsors.


Salary range is Min. $168,604/year to Max. $234,416/year – based on relevant experience

Job Description


Responsible for strategic planning, fiscal management, budgeting, and asset management for the pharmacy division of SWHR:
Ensures smooth and effective strategic planning for programs and services.
Ensures and facilitates the development of business plans for new services and operational areas working with a variety of entities.
Motivates others to act by forging positive relationships internally and externally for the strategic benefit and outcome achievement of the organization's missions and goals.
Act as a catalyst for change and innovation; energizes others to embrace change and champions the transformation of the organization in new and effective directions.
Drives continuous improvement through people, processes, and systems with focus on excellence in service, quality, and safety.
Formulates objectives and priorities, implements plans aligned to the organization's mission and long-term interests. Builds a shared vision with others and acts as a catalyst to transform and pursue organizational change.

Collaborates and works effectively with other department heads, health system administrators, medical staff and department chairs to define and achieve organizational and interdepartmental objectives:
Manages and executes a portfolio of multiple, highly analytical projects for a diverse group of constituents across the organization.
Develops effective external market surveillance mechanisms, maintaining contemporary knowledge of community, regional and national health care landscape.
Collaborates with system leadership to implement and enhance clinical programs to meet the organizations vision and strategies.
Builds strong and lasting relationships within own department and across departments through collaboration, mutual respect, shared decision making, credibility, reliability, and communication.
Effectively manages relationships and business agreements with multiple business partners (e.g.; pharmacy benefit managers, health plans, provider organizations, pharmaceutical companies, software vendors, etc.)
Develops ambulatory pharmacy strategies/synergies that align with initiatives at parent organizations.

Assures mission, goals, and value of the system are aligned with medication management initiatives:
Leads the development of strategic and tactical plans related to a variety of system-wide initiatives, leads project teams, working cross functionally, thinking both critically and strategically.
Ensures alignment in the formulation and validation of strategies for the organization, synchronized and coordinates with overall organizational strategies.
Develops analytic models for measuring opportunities for new and present program initiatives.
Coordinates work of clinical pharmacists to assure the services they provide as part of the interdisciplinary care team optimize value for patients and the organization.
Establishes goals to bring pharmacy spend inside the system, managing unwarranted variation and maximizing pharmacy's impact on quality and total cost of care.
Trains and develops staff, provides constructive performance feedback and appraisals, and takes appropriate corrective action to address performance on conduct issues.





The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications 

Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy is required
Pharm.D, Master's Degree MBA, MHA, MS is preferred

7 years experience as a Pharmacist required and 5 years Managerial experience (completion of an accredited residential training program in health system pharmacy administration or managed care will count as five years of managerial experience) is required.
*** Completion of an accredited pharmacy residency training program is preferred

Licenses and Certifications
Pharmacist License required upon hire

Comprehensive knowledge of principles, methods, clinical practices, techniques and materials of pharmacy practice and management.
Track record of initiating positive change and innovation.
Broad knowledge of modern health care administration, practices and principles of a multi-hospital health system.
Demonstrates the ability to lead and develop people.
Demonstrates the ability to train and educate team members.
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
Must have the ability to foster employee engagement by building relationships of trust through active listening, empowering, caring, support, and coaching.
Must have an executive presence sufficient to evaluate materials related to decisions in terms of the overall mission and long term goals and objectives.
